Dr. Mike Petty, DVM

I have devoted my professional life to the care and well-being of animals. This includes not only routine visits, and visits from sick and injured animals, but also the diagnosis and management of pain in animals. My postgraduate pain education includes advanced pain management, medical acupuncture, myofascial trigger point therapy, and rehabilitation therapy. I have instructed thousands of other veterinarians on pain management topics, both nationally and internationally, while pharmaceutical companies seek my pain management expertise for advice. Most important to dog owners, I have written a book, Dr. Petty’s Pain Relief for Dogs, to be published by Countryman Press, a division of W. W. Norton, in January 2016.

Michael C. Petty, DVM

An ounce of prevention…. Your pet’s well-being will benefit from regular checkups and early intervention when it comes to any health problem. Prevention of disease through vaccination, physical exams, and parasite control should be the minimum standard of care for every animal. And of course, most injuries and disease respond best to prompt treatment. Please call us at 734-844-8844 to make an appointment.

A Testimonial

eNrTT87PLUjMq9Q3MrXQLy3IyU9M0TdLMzQysUgz1yvISwdcMK89ClM,At age 14 and 75 pounds, our dog Beau had been diagnosed with arthritis in one knee and an inflammation of the spinal cord that was weakening his hind legs. Even with several medications for the pain, he was still pretty uncomfortable, and it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to get up once he was lying down. Acupuncture treatment with Dr. Petty has been a tremendous help. We know the pain is much reduced because he is once again running, playing and barking happily. His stamina for long walks has returned, his hind foot no longer drags when he walks, and he no longer groans in pain when he lies down or stands up. Without a doubt, acupuncture has given him back a quality of life that we thought was gone forever. We can’t thank – or recommend – Dr. Petty enough.
